Custom Magnet Design, Not Just Quoting

Five engineers work on custom magnet design. They review your drawing or sample before we quote, so the price matches something we can actually make. That review is where most problems get removed cheaply, before any material is cut.

What We Review Before Quoting

  • Material and grade. What your working temperature demands. A standard grade is often enough. Hot motors and sensors usually need the M, H, SH or UH series.
  • Shape and cutting route. How the part will be sliced, chamfered and ground, and whether the geometry creates a weak edge.
  • Which dimensions are critical. Every dimension has a cost. Tightening all of them adds expense without adding value.
  • Coating. Chosen for humidity, salt spray, chemicals and heat, not by habit.
  • Magnetisation direction. Axial, diametral, radial or multipole, matched to your magnetic circuit.
  • Handling and assembly. Whether the finished part will chip, attract wrongly, or fight your fixture.

Tolerances We Work To

Class Typical tolerance Where it is used
Standard production ±0.02 mm Most parts, including holding and general assembly work.
Tight production ±0.01 mm Motor, sensor and encoder parts where the air gap or the sensing distance is small.

Tell us which dimensions carry the function and which are free. We will hold the first group tight and leave the second group alone.

Prototyping

Two small multi-wire saws are kept out of production and used only for sample work. Prototypes do not queue behind bulk orders.

Sampling takes about 15 days from a confirmed drawing. Straightforward parts can be done in a week. Complex profiles or very tight tolerances may take up to 20 days.

Tooling

Most parts use press tooling we already hold, so no tooling cost is added. A new mould is rarely needed. We would raise it only when your volume reaches several tonnes and the existing tooling genuinely does not suit your shape.

For smaller quantities, the practical route is usually an existing tooling size plus machining to your drawing. That keeps your tooling spend at zero, and it is what we recommend when it can hold your specification.

Sizes We Can Make

If a size is sold on the market today, we can cut it. That covers discs, blocks, rings, arcs, tiles and custom profiles, from small sensor parts up to large generator segments.
